This webinar is designed to improve assessment strategies related to altered iron status. Iron deficiency is one of the most prevalent micronutrient deficiencies in the United States and may negatively impact patient outcomes. Therefore, identifying effective management strategies is critical for RDN understanding.

The complexity of iron assessment and interventions for iron deficiency will be reviewed. Clinicians will be encouraged to apply appropriate monitoring and evaluation plans to ensure optimal treatment strategies. This presentation will begin with a review of iron physiology including absorption and metabolism. This information will set the stage for the interpretation of laboratory indices of iron status and considerations for iron therapy that clinicians can use in outpatient care settings.
